Artist
in Residence:
The PTA funds the
Artist in Residence program which provides classrooms with access to
three talented artists throughout the school year. Ms. Radha
teaches drama classes which result in a performance for their peers
and parents (i.e. Three Piggy Opera). Mr. Hugo teaches a wide
variety of art classes, Ms. Dulce provides dance instruction to the
classes and Mr. Lewis provides vocal music instruction. Both
children and teachers look forward to learning from these artists
each year!

Authors’
Week:
For one week in
February, a children’s book author spends AN ENTIRE WEEK living in
Manhattan Beach and working at Pennekamp. Each student attends an
assembly AND has a lesson in their class with the author. Parents
participate as Mystery Readers, dressing in costume as a character
from a favorite book to read to students. Contact:

This year’s assemblies are “Imagination Machine", "Backhausdance", and
"Vybration". Also, performances of "letter to Harriet Tubman"
and "I, Nat Love" will complement the academic curriculum for our
